Incinerator Opposition Grows 11/05/2012
Opposition to Gloucestershire County Council's plans to have a Mass Burn Incinerator buit by Balfour Beatty near Junction 12 of the M5 and run by Urbaser gathers pace. Green Cllr Philip Booth writes to the local & regional press and is quoted by the trade press. See:

Opposition comes from both Stroud & Cheltenham MP's and local councils as well as the Cotswold Conservation Board, CPRE the Glos Asssoc of Parish & Town Councils, and the local campaign group Glosvain.
Stroud Green Party has also submitted its letter of objection to the planning application now lodged with the County.

Euro Elections 2014
The South West Green Party plans a strong push to win our first MEP in the Euro Elections in 2014. We nearly made it in 2009, beating Labour and missing by only 12,000 votes (0.8 percent of the total votes cast). The process is starting with nomination of candidates, which closes on 10th May 2012.

Stroud Green Party District Councillor Molly Scott Cato, who is also the Green Party's national economics spokesperson, has hit the national headlines. "Economic Voice" reported that she was the only "shadow chancellor" able to forecast a double-dip recession - and explain why it was inevitable.
