NO INCINERATOR 09/01/2012

The calling in by the County Lib Dem’s of the CC’s decision to proceed with Urbaser, Balfour Beatty for a Mass Burn Incinertor (MBI) at Javelin Park, is like a storm blowing through an open door.  The County Tories will use their 8:5 majority on the Scrutiny Committee to slam the door shut and the dust will immediately subside, becoming once again the layer of dirt we recognise as Gloucestershire’s waste solution procurement project.
So is the game up? Is an MBI inevitable? Well no it isn’t, but the County Lib Dem’s will have missed the boat when it comes to the next stage of the battle in February.

Pensions Strike Justified 28/11/11

Stroud District Green Party has said public sector workers are right
to strike over pensions this Wednesday (30/11).

"The Government is complaining about a one-day strike, but we are
complaining about their stealing our pensions forever," said Stroud
Mayor John Marjoram, who is also a Green Party councillor for Trinity
Ward in the town.

Gloucestershire's "bad government" 21/11/2011

Green County Councillor  Sarah Lunnon (Stroud East) writes to the local press:

On Wednesday 16th November 2011, His Honour Judge McKenna ruled that both Gloucestershire and Somerset County Councils had failed to take account of their equalities duties when pushing through the cuts to their library services, condemning both councils’ approach as “bad Government”, and that it was “important to the Rule of Law” that the decisions be quashed.
